The New York Giants decided to make a major change following their Week 10 loss against the Chicago Bears on the road. It was another disappointment in what has been a disappointing season.
Brian Daboll, who had been viewed as a potential hot seat candidate, was removed from his job as head coach.
While not all of the blame for the team's struggles can be blamed on Daboll, it was clear that a change was needed. Daboll is a great offensive mind, but he simply wasn't able to lead the Giants to wins.

Since taking over as the head coach in New York back in the 2022 season, Daboll compiled a 20-30-1 overall record. He did lead the team to the playoffs in his first season with the franchise.

Now, the question becomes, who will the Giants hire to replace Daboll? Quite a few names have already been brought up as potential targets. One of them would see New York bring in a former Dallas Cowboys head coach.
USA Today's Nick Brinkerhoff has suggested that Mike McCarthy could be a top candidate to take over the job for the Giants.
"Dallas owned a top-five scoring offense in three of his five seasons as head coach – finishing No. 1 in 2021 and 2023," Brinkerhoff wrote. "McCarthy parted ways with the Cowboys after the 2024 season and he opted stay away from the sidelines in 2025. Dart could certainly benefit from someone like McCarthy, who has coached the likes of Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers and Dak Prescott since becoming a head coach."
McCarthy has been a head coach in the NFL since becoming the Green Bay Packers' lead man back in 2006. He took off the 2019 season after parting ways with the Packers and has taken off this year following his departure from the Cowboys.

In total, the veteran head coach has compiled a 174-112-2 record throughout his career and led Green Bay to a Super Bowl win back in 2010.
Bringing in a veteran coach could make a lot of sense for New York. The Giants simply cannot afford to miss with their head coaching hire this time around. They have a young quarterback who needs stability.
Adding McCarthy would certainly bring stability. It's an option that should be monitored closely.
