The Baltimore Ravens have been without star quarterback Lamar Jackson since Week 5, and some have begun to worry about the severity of his ankle injury.
Backup QB Tyler Huntley has filled in admirably for Jackson, leading Baltimore to a 1-1 record while throwing for 429 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions while rushing for 64 yards and another score.
The consensus has been Jackson is inching closer to a return, and Fox NFL insider Jay Glazer shed some more light on why the two-time MVP hasn’t returned yet and when he could be back in the starting lineup.

"If Lamar Jackson was just a dropback passer, he probably would've played,” Glazer said. “But I think the Baltimore Ravens decided let's just shut him down right now because if he's just back there and he can't run around like he normally would, that's gonna put him in harm's way. They are optimistic. I think he just needs one more week. I think this is more about them protecting him in this game."
Through the first four games of the year, Jackson was performing at a career pace. He was completing 70.8% of his passes for 967 yards, six touchdowns, and one interception. Jackson also rushed for 144 yards and another score.
Without him, the Ravens offense is a bit more limited than it normally would be. Huntley is also mobile, but he doesn’t have the speed, elusiveness, or home-run ability that Jackson does with the ball in his hands.
If the Ravens lose to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, they’ll likely get Jackson back for a crucial Week 8 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
