Cleveland Browns star edge-rusher Myles Garrett produced a historic individual performance on Sunday against the New England Patriots, recording a franchise record and a new career-high five sacks.

Unfortunately, Garrett's dominance wasn't enough to secure the win, with the Browns falling 32-13 behind another standout performance from Patriots QB Drake Maye.

Even still, Garrett's five-sack day was enough to move him up to 10 on the year (tied for first in the NFL) and 112.5 for his career (27th all-time), marking one of the best single-game performances of the season.

Yet, surprisingly, the NFL's AFC Defensive Player of the Week award for Week 8 went to Miami Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks, who recorded 10 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack in Miami's 34-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

While Brooks' strong performance helped bottle up Atlanta's dominant run game and flip field position en route to a Dolphins win, it's hard to ignore the historic relevance of Garrett's day.

Since being taken No. 1 overall in 2017, Garrett has established himself as one of the league's premier edge rushers, earning six Pro Bowl selections, six All-Pro honors, the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year, and a career sack count that puts him well on pace to make the Hall of Fame.

Sunday's performance was another reflection of just how much he impacts the game week to week, making the snub for the AFC's defensive award significant.

Next for Garrett and the Browns is their scheduled bye week for Week 9, followed by a road test against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on Nov. 9.

The Jets, who also currently have their bye week, will enter with a 1-7 record following a narrow 39-38 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium.

New York has allowed the most QB scrambles (36), the second-most sacks (31), and the third-most QB pressures (78) in the NFL, so expect much of the same from Garrett when the Browns return in Week 10.
