The Detroit Lions should look to strengthen their roster ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

With the Lions being in the very competitive NFC North, they would be wise to make some upgrades to their group. This includes at the running back position. Because of this, Detroit is now being linked to an intriguing running back from the Arizona Cardinals.

In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Kristopher Knox named the Lions as the top potential landing spot for Cardinals running back Tyler Allgeier with the deadline getting closer.

Tyler Allgeier

...

"If Allgeier is available, the Detroit Lions would be a terrific spot for him," Knox wrote.

Given the Lions' need for another running back, it makes sense that they are being linked to Allgeier. He would have the potential to provide the Lions' offense with a strong boost if acquired, as he is an impactful player.

In seven games this season with the Cardinals, Allgeier has posted one touchdown and 176 rushing yards. This is after he recorded eight touchdowns and 514 rushing yards in 17 games for the Atlanta Falcons this past season. With numbers like these, he would certainly be a fascinating player for the Lions to add to their group.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if the Lions strike a deal with the Cardinals for the five-year NFL veteran. The fit looks very strong on paper.
