Per ESPN's Josh Weinfuss, a source close to the Cardinals revealed that Murray wanted more control on the team than just playcalling. The quarterback wanted his opinions heard on draft selections and on which players Arizona should sign in the offseason.
While the Cardinals appeased their star player by trading for his close friend, Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, in 2022, Weinfuss reiterated that a majority of Murray’s demands were dismissed and ignored.

In his seventh season as the team’s starting quarterback, Murray has never found his footing in the desert. He has zero playoff wins in his career, and his inconsistency on and off the field, due to injuries, has hampered the team’s ability to navigate a difficult NFC West division.
Murray, who is done for the year, was once again injured in Week 5 and eventually ruled out for the entire campaign with a lingering foot injury.
Although he has two years left on his 5-year, $230 million contract he signed in the summer of 2022, speculation points to a divorce between the two sides coming this offseason.
The Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, and New Orleans Saints have been linked to possibly making a trade for the former overall top pick.
