A source close to Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman said that president Terry Pegula's comments regarding the team's draft process on him did not bother him.

The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia shared in his latest column.

"A source close to Coleman told The Athletic’s Tim Graham that the receiver didn’t understand Pegula’s comments but quickly shook them off. Coleman has not requested a trade and is proceeding as though he will play for the Bills in 2026."

The source said Coleman will go on business as usual.

“He was taken aback at first,” the source said, “but he just went and worked out, getting ready for year three.”

In addition, it is said Coleman will not request a trade and that he will prepare for the 2026 season as if he will be a Bill.

This comes after Pegula's comments on Coleman during his meeting with the media to discuss the decision to fire head coach Sean McDermott and all things Bills. Pegula stated that it was the coaching staff, not the front office, that decided to draft Coleman.

"The coaching staff pushed to draft Keon," Pegula said. "I'm not saying saying Brandon wouldn't have drafted him, but he wasn't his next choice. That was Brandon being a team player and taking advice of his coaching staff, who felt strongly about the player.

"He's taking, for some reason, heat over it and not saying a word about it, but I'm here to tell you the true story."

Was Keon Coleman a Draft Pick the Bills Regret?

However, Brandon Beane then said that he made the Coleman pick.

"He was my pick," Beane said. "I made the pick. Terry's point was that we might've had a different order of personnel vs. coaching. Ultimately I'm not turning in a pick for a player that I don't think we can succeed with.

"Keon Coleman is a young player that has been here two years, has two years left on his deal. It's up to us to continue to work with him and develop him. His issues have not been on the field. They've just been maturity things that he owns."

The Bills drafted Coleman in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Hailing from Florida State, the Bills viewed Coleman as a high-potential, physical playmaker.

However, two seasons in, he has not been the receiver they had hoped. Maturity and development issues have significantly hampered his play. In total, Coleman has totaled 67 receptions, 960 yards, eight total touchdowns and 14.3 yards per reception in 26 games and 18 starts.

The Bills need a clear upgrade at wide receiver, and we'll see if they'll address it via draft or free agency.
