After being fired from the Baltimore Ravens following 18 seasons, it didn’t take long for John Harbaugh to land another head coaching job, as he was officially hired by the New York Giants.

Harbaugh held his introductory press conference Tuesday, and with several players in attendance, he spoke highly of the culture in New York as well as the rich history of the Giants organization.

He also addressed his starting quarterback, Jaxson Dart, who is coming off a stellar rookie season in New York.

“You build your team around your quarterback. I like his talent, his skill set, and all the things he’s accomplished, but more than that, I like who he’s about,” Harbaugh said. “To me, he’s about football. This young guy loves football. He wants to talk football all the time. That’s kind of what I like doing too, so I think we’re going to have a lot of great conversations. I can’t wait to get started with him.”

Harbaugh is one of the most successful coaches of the 2000s and consistently had the Ravens competing for the postseason, including six AFC North titles during his tenure.

Meanwhile, the Giants’ last postseason win came in 2023, and they have just one playoff victory over the past decade. The franchise has been among the NFL’s more inconsistent teams since Tom Coughlin retired as head coach in 2016.

However, the Giants do have some upside, with talent on both sides of the ball that Harbaugh can certainly work with. Dart — the team’s 2024 first-round pick — along with Abdul Carter, sits at the forefront of that optimism.

This past season, after Dart took over as the starter, he completed 63.7% of his passes for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions, while also rushing for 487 yards and nine touchdowns.
