Joe Fagnano's first NFL start did not go as planned.
The Baltimore Ravens rookie struggled against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and his performance was made more difficult by the circumstances.
However, the quarterback was not interested in using his ankle injury as an excuse for the disappointing result.

Fagnano was asked after Baltimore's 33-10 defeat how much the ankle issue affected him. His response was brief.
“No excuses. I got to play better,” as per Jamison Hensley of ESPN.
The rookie entered the game with his right ankle heavily wrapped. He had initially picked up the injury during Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills but managed to finish that contest. Despite the concern surrounding his fitness, Baltimore handed him the starting job against Jacksonville.
Fagnano completed 10 of 18 passes for just 60 yards and threw two interceptions. He failed to record a touchdown as the Jaguars' defense consistently made life difficult for him.
Fagnano's struggles also need to be viewed in the context of Baltimore's quarterback crisis.
Lamar Jackson suffered a right thumb injury on the opening offensive play against Buffalo. Backup Tyler Huntley also landed on injured reserve after suffering a toe injury.
That left Fagnano as Baltimore's only available quarterback with NFL experience heading into Thursday's matchup.
The Ravens have now lost four consecutive games and fallen to 4-5. Their offense has struggled to find consistency, and Jackson's absence has exposed just how difficult it is for the team to operate without its franchise quarterback.
