The Los Angeles Chargers are coming off their bye this week as the only remaining winless NFL team.

Hopefully the Chargers took the week off to re-evaluate their game plan and coaching strategies because something obviously needs to change if the team wants to secure a win.

One of the biggest questions surrounded whether offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel would lose his play calling duties after the bye. There's plenty not working well on the Chargers right now, but the offense game plan contains a lot of issues in itself.

Coach Jim Harbaugh spoke with reporters on Wednesday regarding the "self-scouting" he conducted on the team this past week. He shared the decision he made on McDaniel's play calling, and it might not make many Chargers fans happy to hear.

"We're very confident in Mike and his talent, work ethic, and ability, and continue to be," Harbaugh said.

To clarify, this means McDaniel will continue calling the offensive plays. We'll see if McDaniel adjusted his game plan during the bye.

The Chargers rank 31st in total offensive yards (1,723), 28th in yards per gain (287.2), 30th in passing yards (1,009) and dead last in total points with 90. Keep in mind that the Chargers have only competed in six games, but regardless of that, it's embarrassing to be listed near or at the bottom in any of these offensive categories.

McDaniel also needs to work on clicking with his starting quarterback Justin Herbert more. Herbert is tied for the lead in the league with eight interceptions so far this season. Herbert is the Chargers' quarterback through the 2029 season as of now, so he must be the priority for McDaniel moving forward.

The Chargers will face a tough Los Angeles Rams team on Sunday. An upset over the Rams would be the statement the Chargers so desperately need to make right now.
