New York Jets training camp is officially underway, and all eyes are on the offense.

Can Geno Smith rekindle some of that Seattle magic and deliver a bounce-back year in his return to New York? Can Breece Hall re-establish himself as one of the best running backs in football? Is Kenyon Sadiq the NFL's next elite tight end?

The receiving room in particular looks refreshed and loaded with talent. Garrett Wilson is the unquestioned WR1, Adonai Mitchell feels primed for a breakout year, and first-round rookie Omar Cooper Jr. is coming off a dominant year at Indiana. But there's another veteran receiver this team signed in the offseason that could play a valuable complementary role this year: Tim Patrick.

Over the weekend, Patrick was placed on the active/physically unable to perform list (PUP) due to an undisclosed injury. Patrick has dealt with several injuries throughout his career — notably a torn ACL in 2022 and a torn Achilles in 2023 — so any appearance on the injury report raises some concern.

But on Tuesday, the Jets officially activated him, returning him to the active roster and giving New York its full lineup of receivers as training camp gets underway.

The Jets signed the 32-year-old Patrick to a one-year deal in May to provide some veteran leadership in the locker room. He spent the 2025 season in Jacksonville, finishing with 187 yards and three touchdowns on 15 catches across 16 games.

But it's easy to forget that he was once one of the Broncos' steadiest receiving weapons. A 6-foot-5, 210-pound wideout, Patrick posted back-to-back seasons with 50+ catches, 730+ receiving yards, and 5+ touchdowns in his final two seasons in Denver, in 2021 and 2022.

Chances are, he's probably locked into that No. 4 role behind Wilson, Mitchell, and Cooper — and probably behind Sadiq for targets as well. But you can never have enough depth at the receiver position, and Patrick is exactly the type of veteran you want on your roster when injuries inevitably pop up.
