The New York Jets will look to pull off a massive Week 9 upset over the Kansas City Chiefs without Garrett Wilson.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn ruled out Wilson for Sunday's AFC matchup on Friday. The wide receiver remains in the concussion protocol after taking a hit to the head near the end of last weekend's 38-33 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Glenn also announced that linebacker Trevin Wallace won't play this Sunday. Meanwhile, the offense still hopes to welcome back Breece Hall from a quad injury that's sidelined the running back since Week 3.

Hall's return may invigorate the ground game, but Geno Smith won't have his top target against a Kansas City defense that has allowed an 80.4 opposing passer rating this season.

Wilson leads the Jets with 43 catches and 527 receiving yards in his fifth NFL season. The team's next leading receivers, Adonai Mitchell and Omar Cooper Jr., have 513 combined yards on 28 receptions.

However, Jets offensive coordinator Frank Reich still likes New York's receiving room without Wilson. Mitchell will assume a heavier role after tallying a career-high 142 yards in Week 8, and Cooper flashed upside with consecutive 100-yard games in October.

"You can't replace Garrett Wilson -- he's a unique player," Reich said, per ESPN's Rich Cimini. "On the other hand, we're not afraid. Did you see the game AD had? Did you see the games Coop has had? We have a lot of confidence in our guys."

Wilson's absence comes at a dire time for the Jets, who enter Arrowhead 2-6 following three straight losses. Another defeat could raise more questions about Glenn's job security and make them more likely to sell before Tuesday's trade deadline.
