The Tennessee Titans made a blockbuster trade on Thursday, sending four-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears.
It was reported soon after news of the deal broke that Simmons wasn't expecting to be moved.
Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi discussed the transaction on Thursday afternoon and gave details about just how crushed the All-Pro was by the trade.

Borgonzi said Simmons "didn't want to leave" Tennessee and the former 19th overall pick had "probably" gained more "respect and admiration" from the GM than "any player (he's) been around."
Borgonzi added that he'd discussed the potential deal with Titans head coach Robert Saleh on Wednesday night after being contacted by Bears general manager Ryan Poles.

Simmons had spent his entire career with Tennessee since being selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
He earned Pro Bowl honors in 2021, 2022, 2024 and 2025 and garnered his first career All-Pro nod last season as well.
Simmons signed a three-year, $105.8 million extension with the Titans in June, but with the team heading toward another dismal campaign at 1-6, Tennessee is presumably going to be in sell mode ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline.
The Titans' last playoff appearance was during the 2021 season and they are 7-34 since the start of the 2024 campaign.
