The Arizona Cardinals benched starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett in Sunday's matchup versus the Dallas Cowboys for Gardner Minshew, and that was the best decision the team could've made.

Minshew led Arizona to four consecutive touchdown drives to force overtime against the Cowboys after trailing by 14 points in the third quarter. The Cardinals ended up winning 33-30.

On Monday, coach Mike LaFleur announced that Minshew was named the team's starting quarterback moving forward with rookie Carson Beck moving up to the backup position. Brissett was demoted all the way to the third-string emergency quarterback spot. From there, it was clear that the Cardinals would likely try to trade Brissett ahead of Tuesday, Nov. 10's NFL deadline.

And, that ended up being the case on Wednesday as Brissett was traded to the Baltimore Ravens, ESPN's Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport reported. The deal is expected to be completed this weekend, meaning that Brissett won't start for the Ravens on "Thursday Night Football" versus the Jacksonville Jaguars tomorrow.

The Ravens are dealing with their own quarterback struggles. On Sunday, starter Lamar Jackson competed in one play before leaving the contest with a thumb injury. He was placed on the injured reserve list, meaning he'll miss at least the next four games.

Backup Tyler Huntley was also injured in Sunday's game, and on Wednesday, it was announced that he suffered a season-ending turf toe injury. If you're counting, this means the Ravens are down their top two quarterbacks.

On Thursday, the Ravens will start undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano out of UConn, who made his NFL debut in Sunday coming in for Huntley. He completed 10-of-21 pass attempts for 91 yards and an interception in the 36-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Fagnano is dealing with an ankle injury, but he practiced with a brace on Tuesday.

The Ravens did sign Austin Reed to the practice squad on Monday, but Reed has yet to make his NFL debut. He wasn't seen as a strong option to start for the AFC North team.

Brissett could get his first start for the Ravens in Week 10 when Baltimore faces the Los Angeles Chargers on "Monday Night Football."
