One of the New York Giants' brightest stars who missed much of last year due to injury seems like he'll be ready to return to action when the 2026 season begins.

Wide receiver Malik Nabers, who tore his ACL and suffered damage to his meniscus on Sept. 28, 2025, has been spotted at training camp and appears to be well on his way to recovery.

On social media, ESPN Giants reporter Jordan Raanan said Nabers "looks good."

"This was the first time we've seen him run since the knee injury," Raanan wrote. "He participated in individual drills at the Giants first practice of the summer. Have to think it bodes well for Week 1."

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter weighed in as well.

"On the first day of training camp, Malik Nabers looked like a wide receiver who is tracking to play opening night against the Dallas Cowboys," he said.

A Long Journey to Recovery

Nabers is certainly hoping to get back for the start of the regular season, as that would mark nearly a full year since his injury.

The combination of an ACL and meniscus repair, though, requires a lengthy recovery time, and Nabers had to undergo a second surgical procedure to remove scar tissue as well.

It's no surprise, then, that general manager Joe Schoen "remains hopeful that Nabers will play in Week 1 — but wouldn’t make any guarantees," said Darryl Slater of NJ.com.

“We’re going to see,” Schoen said from training camp. “The medical staff has a really good plan for him. We’re going to listen to the patient, so we’re going to see how he reacts. As long as everything goes as planned, we’ll listen to Malik and his body. And hopefully, he’ll be ready."

"Maybe" is a big improvement since only two months ago, when he was spotted limping at a charity softball game.

"We were eight months in and he looked like that?," Giants great Tiki Barber said on WFAN earlier this month, as reported by Matt Burke of Complex. "He looked bad … I'm doubtful that he is going to be pain-free [in training camp], swelling-free, and fully viable for a good portion of training camp."

Despite that dour outlook, it seems Nabers has recovered enough to significantly participate in training camp.

If he can make it through camp healthy and continue to heal, that Week 1 matchup with the division rival Cowboys certainly seems like it's in the cards.
