The New York Giants have an important divisional matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, but they will be facing their rival without a key piece to their offense.

According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Giants running back Cam Skattebo is officially inactive for Week 9.

Skattebo suffered a hamstring injury at the end of a big run in overtime of the Giants Week 7 win over the Houston Texans, and it seems to be more serious than previously thought.

Despite having a full week to recover over the team's Week 8 bye, it has been determined that Skattebo is still not healthy enough to play.

It could be that the Giants are just being cautious with a ton of season still ahead, but every win matters in a tight NFC East race. The Giants currently sit in first place with a 4-2-1 record, but the Dallas Cowboys are close behind at 3-5, with the Washington Commanders (2-4-1) and Eagles (2-6) not far behind, either.

Skattebo had been in the Giants doghouse after struggling with turnovers to begin the season. However, he finally looked like the reliable running back that he was for much of his rookie season before getting injured in Week 7, rushing for 124 yards and a touchdown.

However, with Skattebo sidelined, Devin Singletary will serve as the Giants' lead back with Tyrone Tracy Jr. on injured reserve with a hamstring injury of his own.

A fourth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Skattebo has rushed for 704 yards and six touchdowns in his professional career.
