New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart suffered a serious left knee injury in Week 2, landing him on injured reserve for what is expected to be the remainder of the 2026 regular season.
However, there's still some hope that Dart could return to the field if the Giants make the playoffs. New York currently leads the NFC East with a 4-2-1 record, putting the team on track to secure a postseason berth.
When speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Giants general manager Joe Schoen said Dart is still holding out hope for a return in the playoffs.

"He still thinks if we make the playoffs, that he's going to be able to come back," Schoen said with a laugh. "That's just the kid's mindset. ... He's one of those guys you appreciate his toughness and grit, but you've got to protect him from himself sometimes."
The Giants acquired quarterback J.J. McCarthy in a blockbuster trade with the Minnesota Vikings in response to Dart's injury. McCarthy has since taken over for quarterback Jameis Winston, making his first start in a win over the Houston Texans this past weekend.

The Giants now enter their Week 8 bye, giving them extra time to prepare for a Week 9 matchup against the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles.
