New York Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley has been placed on injured reserve, as confirmed by head coach Jeff Ulbrich on Friday.
The veteran linebacker has been battling a herniated disc in his neck, limiting him to just four games in 2024. Although Mosley had hoped to return following the Jets' Week 12 bye, that plan has now fallen through. With his season almost certainly over, Mosley will shift his focus to rehabilitation, aiming to be ready for the 2025 campaign.

Mosley went from being a full participant in Wednesday's practice to being sidelined on Thursday, and now, is officially on the IR list. With only four more weeks left in the NFL season, he can effectively be considered out for the remainder. So far in 2024, Mosley has appeared in just four games, registering 17 tackles.

Originally selected by the Ravens in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft (17th overall), Mosley was the fourth linebacker chosen that year and became the highest-drafted linebacker from Alabama since Rolando McClain, who went eighth overall in 2010. In 2019, Mosley signed a five-year, $85 million contract with the New York Jets.
He made an immediate impact in his Jets debut in Week 1, intercepting a pass from Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and returning it for a touchdown, while also recording 5 tackles.
Unfortunately, Mosley suffered a groin injury in the third quarter, forcing him to exit the game. Before the injury, the Jets led 16-0, but they eventually lost 17-16 after collapsing in the second half.
The veteran linebacker is still under contract for one more season, set to earn $8.25 million in 2025.

Ulbrich also announced to reporters on Friday that running back Breece Hall and cornerback Sauce Gardner are both considered doubtful for Sunday's game in Miami. Hall is nursing a knee injury, while Gardner is dealing with a hamstring issue.
The Miami Dolphins (5-7) are still hanging on to slim playoff hopes this Sunday, while the Jets (3-9) are all but out of contention but will aim to spoil their divisional rivals' postseason chances in a road game.
The Jets' season, which once had some optimism despite their losses, now appears all but over after their third straight defeat. With the team's struggles mounting, questions about Aaron Rodgers' future in New York are starting to emerge, although he remains the starting quarterback — for now.
As for the Dolphins, their "cold-weather struggles" narrative was only reinforced after a sluggish start doomed their trip to Green Bay on Thanksgiving night. The loss interrupted their recent momentum, but Miami has been playing much better football lately, and they're not yet ready to be counted out of the playoff race.
