The Miami Dolphins may have had the best offense in 2023, but the team failed to capitalize on that during the playoffs. After losing the last two games of the regular season, awarding the Buffalo Bills the AFC East crown, the Dolphins were also handily beaten by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of the playoffs.

DeShon Elliot joined a podcast to talk about his time with the Dolphins, referring to the team as being, "soft as f***."
"I haven't been able to play against Baltimore in the way that I wanted to. Last year, I played for a team that was soft as f*** ... there were some guys that were tough, but the majority of the team was there was not mentally tough individuals. So, to be on a team of mentally tough guys against another team of mentally tough guys..."
Elliot is referring to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who is now a part of. The Steelers are set to face off against the Baltimore Ravens, who are their divisional rivals, and one team aiming to land the top spot in the AFC conference.

Elliot may have a wild claim in stating the Dolphins were "soft" in 2023, but the Ravens defeated Miami with a 56-19 final score in Week 17. Though that does not mean the Dolphins did not have a successful season, they were unable to get past the better teams in the NFL in 2023.
Elliot appears to have found his groove in 2024 with the Steelers as he has secured 64 total tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and four passes defended through nine games.

The Dolphins, on the other hand, are attempting to work their way out of a hole that was dug when star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was out due to a concussion. The Dolphins are now 3-6 on the season but are not out of the race for the playoffs.
The Dolphins pulled off a big win on Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Rams, and are now 1.5 games away from the seventh seed in the playoffs. Should they continue to trend upward, they might still have a chance at a playoff berth.
