A former Dallas Cowboys mainstay is giving up on their 2026 season after Sunday's 33-30 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Dallas fell to 3-5 after allowing 20 fourth-quarter points to the Cardinals, who benched Jacoby Brissett for Gardner Minshew. Marcus Spears lost all hope in the Cowboys rebounding after the Week 8 collapse.
"Yeah, it's a wrap," Spears said Monday on ESPN's "The Rich Eisen Show." "It's a wrap."

The former defensive lineman, who spent eight seasons in Dallas, lamented seeing the "same issues every week." A lethargic defense allowed 467 total yards on Sunday, and the ground game followed an impressive showing against the Philadelphia Eagles by tallying 93 rushing yards on 39 attempts.
"By this time, you're supposed to be getting into an accountable flow or rhythm about who you are," Spears noted. "And their flow and rhythm is leaving people wide [expletive] open, not being able to stop the run, not being able to handle pressure when teams blitz them a large majority of the time. And if CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens are not going for over 100 [yards], the offense is going to get stagnant at times."
Outside of kicker Brandon Aubrey, Spears couldn't think of any reliable part of the Cowboys, who have yet to win back-to-back games this season.
"Can't be the championship football team, we can't talk about you, about being a playoff team going forward if nothing about your team is consistent," Spears added. "I would be hard-pressed, as much football as I watch and film I break down, to tell you what the Cowboys are consistently good at. I have no idea."

...
Despite Spears's bleak assessment, the Cowboys remain just one win behind the first-place New York Giants in the NFC East. They can stay firmly in the division race with a Week 9 victory over the floundering Indianapolis Colts.
