The Tennessee Titans fell to 1-6 on the season after their loss on Sunday to the New England Patriots, which might all but gurantee they will not make the postseason. As a result, the organization has decided to part ways with one aging veteran, who seemingly wants to play for a contender in 2025.
This past offseason, former All-Pro wide receiver Tyler Locket signed a one-year $4 million deal to bring some much-needed veteran experience to their young wide receiving corps.
Unfortunately, thus far, Lockett hasn't exactly made all that much of an impact on the field, recording just 10 receptions for 70 receiving yards in the team's first seven games of the year.

This has led to an amicable end of Lockett's contract, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, who further detailed that Lockett can officially sign with another team as soon as Wednesday night.

Lockett has a track record of being one of the most reliable wide receivers in all of football, recording four straight 1,000-yard seasons from 2019 to 2022 when he was with the Seattle Seahawks.
On paper, there are several contending teams like the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, and Pittsburgh Steelers that could perhaps be in the market for a veteran wide receiver with the kind of experience that Lockett has.
The issue is Lockett hasn't been nearly as productive as he once was. So his path to a meaningful role in the NFL moving forward may very well be an uphill battle.
As for the Titans, Lockett's departure may very well not be the end of their moves at the wide receiver position as we approach the NFL trade deadline, as Calvin Ridley has quickly emerged as a potential trade target for wide receiver-needy teams looking for a new dynamic receiving threat.
