"The new season will feature new teams competing with new head coaches in new markets and in new venues," the UFL notes in a statement.
The 2026 season will officially start on Friday, March 27, at 8 p.m. Eastern time on Fox Sports, bringing a game of "old school meeting new school when the three-time spring football league champion Birmingham Stallions under new Head Coach AJ McCarron travel to Louisville to take on UFL newcomer, the Louisville Kings, under the direction of Head Coach and Louisville Cardinals great Chris Redman at Lynn Family Stadium."

The UFL is aiming to bring up its viewership in 2026. According to research from Sports Pro, the "UFL witnessed a decline in both TV viewership and attendances during its 2025 regular season." It "averaged 645,000 viewers in sophomore season, down 20 per cent on 2024." But, on the upside, five of the spring football league's games had more than 900,000 viewers.
