Other than Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby, no other NFL player has been more heavily talked about in the trade market this offseason than Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown.

Per Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, the Eagles have had conversations with teams about trading Brown. However, momentum appears to have stalled for the 2019 second-round pick.

One of the hiccups appears to be how the Eagles will manage Brown's cap hit.
If Philadelphia trades Brown before June 1, his cap charge would increase by over $20 million, meaning the team would have a dead cap hit of $43.5 million, per NBC Sports Philadelphia.
A post-June 1 trade would allow the Eagles to save $7 million cap space, with a dead cap change of $16.3 million. The rest of Brown's dead cap would be spread out to 2027.
During trade talks, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman was trying to get teams to "split" the deal for Brown before and after June 1.
"The other thing that I've come to understand is Howie Roseman, and this shouldn't really come as a surprise, was trying to be creative about these negotiations with teams and say, 'Well, could we do sort of a split deal, like do half the deal now' and then, what Ian (Rapoport) was talking about, 'finish the rest of the deal after June 1,'" Garafolo said.
"This way it's not as bad against the team salary cap. Immediately they can spread A.J. Brown's hit moving into the future. Teams were saying, 'No, no, you do trades all at one time. That's how it works.' But Roseman is trying to be creative, because this is a tough situation for him."
Garofolo suggested Roseman is trying to figure out a way to trade Brown before the start of the league's new year. However, if he's not traded by Wednesday, there's still a possibility Brown will not be on the Eagles in the fall.
Trade chatter would continue to surround the All-Pro receiver through or after the draft.
