Davis returned to the field using crutches and in a walking boot. This type of injury appears to be rather significant, and could mean the Dolphins lost another member of their secondary in the matter of days.
Davis is currently on the depth chart as the starting strong safety for the team. Losing him for an extended period is certainly going to impact the Dolphins' plans. This is especially true considering the team also lost starting cornerback Kader Kohou.

Kohou went down during practice and was limping off the field. Though there was hope that his injury was minor, it was revealed that he was suffering from swelling in his leg.
The swelling led to Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel stating that the team is unsure of the severity of Kohou's injury. Miami was quick to bring in free agents Mike Hilton and Jack Jones, clearly indicating that Kohou might have suffered a significant injury.
Now, the Dolphins might be without Davis for weeks, and potentially the entire season. This is just speculation, as the diagnosis of the injury has yet to be confirmed or stated.
Moments after Davis went down, he was seen punching the ground, which is never a good sign. Also, multiple players on the Dolphins went up to Davis to offer their condolences, which also fueled speculation that his injury was very significant.
With Davis returning to the field in crutches and a walking boot, this could mean that he will be out for an extended period.
The Dolphins experienced an underwhelming season in 2024, missing out on the playoffs and a winning record. At 8-9, the team was a far cry from their stellar 11-6 2023 team.
Now, it appears the injury bug is continuing to impact the Dolphins team. It is believed that more additions will come in the form of free agents.
Considering Miami added two cornerbacks after Kohou was injured, expect the team to go after another defensive back free agent. There are plenty available on the market, and some older corners that could certainly be moved over to a safety position.
