Controversial rookie Diego Pavia may have been cut from the NFL, but it seems there's still opportunities for him in pro football.

The quarterback out of Vanderbilt was waived by the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, just months after he became the first Heisman finalist to go unselected in the NFL Draft.

If he's willing to trade playing in fall for spring, though, it seems he still has a spot in the sport.

An Emoji Tells the Story

When the NFL posted to social media to announce that Pavia had been waived by the Ravens, another league, the United Football League, quoted the post with only the eyeballs emoji as a caption.

Pavia surely will try to find a new spot in the NFL before the season starts. After all, it is the premier league in the sport, and perhaps the top sports league on the planet.

But opportunities are quarterback are hard to find, especially for a passer who's undersized (he measured under 5-foot-10 at the Senior Bowl) and brings with him controversies like posting "F- all the voters" to social media when he failed to capture the Heisman Trophy.

The team said that Pavia had been in competition for the No. 3 QB spot on the depth chart, following, of course, two-time MVP Lamar Jackson as the starter and "experienced backup" Tyler Huntley.

"Baltimore has narrowed that competition to veteran Skylar Thompson, who shined during minicamp, and undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano (Connecticut)," the team said.

Of course, it's possible neither Thompson nor Fagnano will ultimately make the regular season roster, as the team could carry only two QBs.

What Kind of Opportunity Could Diego Pavia Have in the UFL?

While there's plenty of competition from other former college stars, there is room in the UFL for Pavia to play.

There are only eight teams, but this past season, only two QBs started all 10 of their team's games.

With one of those QBs, Jack Plummer, winning UFL MVP honors and working out for NFL teams, there's potentially going to be a need for another QB in the spring league.

Pavia can't change his size, but if he can improve his skills and reduce the off-the-field antics, he could get another shot in the NFL.
