Over the past decade, there might not be a fiercer rivalry in sports media than Dave Portnoy's Barstool Sports and Roger Goodell's NFL.

The outspoken and in-your-face sports personality and founder of the Barstool Sports brand has never been afraid to take a shot (or two, or 5,403) at Goodell and the NFL. From Deflategate to Portnoy getting thrown into a holding cell at the most recent New England Patriots Super Bowl against the Los Angeles Rams in 2019, the two sides have been at a standoff for years.

Although the NFL has some of the top sports media members and podcasts in the world, including "Pardon My Take," the NFL has kept Barstool Sports, and specifically Portnoy, out of its most significant event of the year.

While Barstool Sports has hosted its own events during Super Bowl week in the lead-up to the game, it hasn't been permitted to participate in the media festivities, or for Portnoy to purchase a ticket to watch the game live. Although that hasn't been an issue since the Patriots haven't made the big game since 2019, their advancement to the finale against the Seattle Seahawks has put this once-heated feud back in the limelight.

On Monday, though, news broke that times might be changing between the NFL and Barstool Sports, with the news that Portnoy is allowed to purchase a Super Bowl ticket.

TMZ Sports executive producer Michael Babcock posted on social media that he had received word from the NFL that Portnoy could attend the Super Bowl between the Patriots and the Seahawks, a rematch of the iconic 2015 championship game.

Although it is not yet confirmed that Barstool Sports as a whole will be allowed at Media Row for the week, Portnoy has come out to say that the war between the two sides might finally be coming to an end.

This comes after Barstool Sports' recent partnership with FOX Sports, in which Portnoy and other company personalities appear on some of its flagship programming. They also have their own weekly morning show, "Wakeup Barstool," which runs Monday-Friday alongside their premier block of shows.
