It seems like an annual event at this point, but once again, the NFL is trying to get inside the mind of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers and predict what he will do this offseason. Will he retire, return to his previous team, or is he going somewhere else?
Despite a coaching change, the Pittsburgh Steelers have made it known that they would like Rodgers to come back next season. He helped bring an AFC North title to Pittsburgh for the first time since 2020, amidst a 10-7 season, but ultimately fell in the wild card round to the Houston Texans.
It’s always a great question what Rodgers is thinking and where he plans to play, or if he will play at all. However, ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky, formerly a quarterback for the Detroit Lions, believes Rodgers’ plans are already set in stone.

“You can write that in pen. Aaron Rodgers is going to go back and be the starting quarterback for the Steelers,” Orlovsky said on Get Up. “You’re not going about this process in Pittsburgh unless you have a really good feeling about that. So, I’m banking on and fully expecting Aaron Rodgers to say, ‘Yes, I’m playing for Pittsburgh again.’”
Orlovsky is closely connected to the league as a former player, but it’s unclear if he was told something to back this up or if it is his strong gut feeling.

Rodgers, 42, might be the best option for the Steelers again, especially given his familiarity with new head coach Mike McCarthy. The other quarterbacks on the roster currently are second-year QB Will Howard and veteran QB Mason Rudolph.
Since the Green Bay Packers surprisingly drafted quarterback Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, each offseason that followed has left Rodgers’ future somewhat in the air. He was eventually traded to the New York Jets, where he spent two seasons before signing with the Steelers.
Whether Rodgers returns or not, the Steelers will likely add a quarterback through the draft or free agency. So far this offseason, the team has been linked to veterans Kirk Cousins and Kyler Murray as landing spots.
