Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has announced that the team is signing three-time Pro Bowler Jadeveon Clowney, helping to fill the hole left by Micah Parsons.
In the past week, news had been circulating that Clowney, the former No. 1 pick in the 2014 draft, was in talks with the Cowboys. After trading four-time Pro Bowler Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers for Kenny Clark and two future first-round picks, Dallas was in need of more pass rushers.

While Clark is a 10-year NFL veteran, Parsons has logged more tackles for loss and quarterback hits in only half of that time. Needless to say, the Cowboys wanted to find talent that can at least alleviate some of the pressure that was put onto Clark as a replacement.
Enter Clowney. It was originally reported on Friday that the pass rusher and the Cowboys had not come to an agreement after a visit to Dallas. But, two days later, Jones announced in a press conference on Sunday afternoon that Clowney would be signing with the organization.

The news comes right after the Cowboys' exhilarating 40-37 overtime win against the New York Giants that ended after Brandon Aubrey nailed a 46-yard field goal.

Though the Cowboys came away with a massive victory, the Dallas defense allowed Giants quarterback Russell Wilson to tally up a career-high 450 passing yards throughout the game and watched four touchdowns be punched into the end zone.
While the effects are still unknown, the addition of more pass rushers like Clark and Clowney could certainly be seen as a stopgap for high scoring games such as that.
Clowney has recorded 272 solo tackles, 108 tackles for loss and 139 quarterback hits in 11 seasons and will likely have plenty of opportunity to add to those numbers as his 12th season begins in a Cowboys jersey. Clowney could take the field as early as next week, as the Cowboys head to Chicago to take on the Bears.
