Shedeur Sanders may or may not be the Cleveland Browns' starting quarterback next season. What he will be doing, however, is wearing a different jersey.
The former first-round pick will change his jersey number from No. 12 to No. 2. With that in mind, NFL insider Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports urged the Browns to hook the fans up and do right by them after they signed their now-outdated jerseys:
"Would be cool to see the team/player do something for folks who purchased now outdated jerseys just a few months ago. An autograph day or meet and greet or a one-time buyback program," Jones shared on X.

While this is standard procedure in professional sports, this news will affect more people than the average jersey number change. Sanders' jersey was the third most sold jersey among rookies, right after the Browns took him with the No. 144 pick.

Sanders will now return to the number he wore at Colorado and Jackson State, which was also his father, Deion's, number at Florida State. He couldn't wear it last season because return specialist DeAndre Carter claimed it first.
Regardless of whether the Browns do anything to help the fans after this news, Sanders will hope that the new number brings him good luck in securing the QB1 spot.
He will battle with Deshaun Watson for the right to start for new head coach Todd Monken, but the Browns may also add a rookie in the NFL Draft.
Sanders took the reins of the offense after Dillon Gabriel suffered a concussion, starting the final seven games of the season and leading the team to a 3-4 record, including consecutive wins to close out the season. He was selected to the Pro-Bowl as an alternate, and even though he clearly has a lot of work to do, he's already one of the most popular figures in the game.
