Los Angeles Chargers edge rusher Joey Bosa has officially been ruled out of the remainder of the Chargers' game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tracy Wolfson announced on the CBS broadcast. Bosa was seen walking off the field with trainers during the first half, and getting his leg stretched out on the sideline. He was initially ruled as questionable to return and has now been ruled out.

Bosa was a limited participant in Wednesday and Thursday's practice because of the hip injury but managed to practice fully on Friday. Earlier in the week, Bosa had told reporters he planned to play the full game if everything went well, but he ended up leaving the game during the first half.

The Chargers limited Bosa during their win over the Carolina Panthers, holding him to just 14 snaps in the game because of a back injury. Bosa said after Week 2 that his back had felt better, but he then began dealing with a hip injury that took him out of Sunday's game against Pittsburgh early.

Bosa has struggled with injuries throughout the last two seasons. He has dealt with injuries to his foot and groin over the last two seasons that limited him to just 14 total games in 2022 and 2023. He also worked through a hand injury during the preseason, which he underwent surgery for.

The 29-year-old edge rusher has been looking to play more and stay healthy, but will once again be limited because of an injury. So far in the 2024 season, Bosa has two sacks after recording one each during the first two games.

Even with Bosa out, the Chargers have managed to get to Steelers quarterback Justin Fields. Safety Derwin James Jr. and edge rusher Khalil Mack have each recorded a sack. Tuli Tuipulotu also sacked Fields, but the sack was taken away because of a penalty in the secondary.

The Chargers saw another star player hurt when quarterback Justin Herbert exited the game ahead of a 3rd and 18. Herbert appeared to be limping off to the sideline, and heading into the medical tent.

Herbert came into the game with a high ankle sprain but decided to play through the injury before exiting the game in the third quarter. Quarterback Taylor Heinicke replaced Herbert, and the Chargers punted after they were unable to convert the third down. Herbert's final status has yet to be announced.
