There was a lot of discussion regarding Arizona Cardinals franchise quarterback Kyler Murray and whether he would suit up in Week 6’s duel against the Indianapolis Colts.

Well, that answer has been revealed.

The Cardinals announced on X that Murray will miss Sunday’s game due to a nagging foot injury – an injury that ruled him out of last week’s match against the Tennessee Titans.

Backup and veteran Jacoby Brissett will start in place of Murray.

It’s been a tumultuous season for the Cardinals. Murray, despite completing passes at an impressive 68%, has had a problem committing turnovers, throwing two interceptions in Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks and one against the Carolina Panthers in Week 2.

For the Cardinals, they’ve been losers in three consecutive games, with all three games being a deficit of three points or less.

In Week 3’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the Cardinals fell 16-15. In Week 4, they fell to the Seahawks 23-20, and in Week 5, lost to the Titans 22-21.

The last time Brissett started an NFL game was during the 2024 season for the New England Patriots, before losing his starting job to top draft pick Drake Maye.

Brissett is currently in his 10th year in the NFL and on his sixth team. Prior to landing in Arizona, he was with the aforementioned Patriots on two separate occasions, the Colts for four seasons, the Miami Dolphins, the Washington Commanders, and the Cleveland Browns.

The 10-year veteran is a respected member of the NFL, and most players who have played with him have sung his praises.

When it was rumored that Murray may have to miss Week 6’s game earlier in the week, two of the Cardinals' top receivers fully believed in the veteran.

"I have full trust in Jacoby," wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. told ESPN. "I think the biggest thing, he's been such a good leader and mentor for me since he got here."

Not only that, tight end Trey McBride, who is third in the NFL among all tight ends in receiving yards, was effusive in his praise of Brissett.

"I think Jacoby's, obviously, he's played a long time in this league," McBride said. "He's played for a lot of different teams. He's played for a lot of different receivers, came in the middle of season started, he's done it all. So, he's a guy that I have full confidence in and a guy that commands the huddle, understands what he's doing, and he's going to go out there and make plays and he's going to do the right thing."

Arizona kicks off against the Colts at 1:00 p.m. ET, broadcasting on FOX.
