The Green Bay Packers took the field in Week 1 Sunday for the first meaningful game since they allowed the Chicago Bears to outscore them 25-6 in the fourth quarter of a 31-27 loss in the Wild-Card Round in January.

Not long after falling out of the playoffs, the Packers gave contract extensions to head coach Matt LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst.

On Sunday, the Packers took a 22-10 lead in the third quarter. The Vikings, led by backup quarterback Carson Wentz, went on to score the contest's final 29 points, earning a 39-22 win in front of 66,940 fans at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The Packers are on a six-game losing streak. During that stretch, Green Bay has surrounded double-digit leads twice to the Bears, once to the Denver Broncos, and to the Vikings on Sunday.

It's understandable some fans are voicing frustration with the way the Packers have lost.

During an appearance on ESPN Madison, Steve “Homer” True urged the Packers to consider firing LaFleur despite the recently signed contract extension.

"You are making a coach something he's not," he said. "He's capable of blowing the game at any time, regardless of the lead. How you can assume the game is over at any point, given his ability as a coach and the games that you've seen... is amazing to me.

"You can never take a game for granted with him as a coach... They should let him go tonight. They just don't have an option. They made him an extension. I don't have anybody else. He earned the ability to get fired."

It's a little premature for the Packers to consider letting LaFleur go before Week 2. Green Bay has plenty to clean up early in the season. The Packers should be in better shape when Micah Parsons returns from his ACL injury and if/when Josh Jacobs is taken off the commissioner exempt list.
