The Cleveland Browns have several holes they need to fill heading into the offseason, and the team addressed one of them on Monday morning.

The Browns added a major piece to their offensive line through a trade with the Houston Texans.

“Sources: The #Texans and #Browns have agreed to terms on a trade to send starting RT Tytus Howard to Cleveland in exchange for a fifth-round pick,” Rapoport stated. “Much-needed OL help. Plus, Howard gets a new 3-year, $63M extension.”

The 29-year-old Howard has started 93 games over his seven-year career, including back-to-back seasons with 16 or more starts.

Howard played 628 snaps at right tackle, 402 snaps at left guard, and 132 snaps at right guard last season. He allowed zero sacks, 26 pressures, 25 hurries and one QB hits, per Pro Football Focus.

Howard’s addition is an upgrade over the right tackle situation the Browns had last season. The team went with a three-player platoon with KT Leveston (464 snaps played, 33 pressures and six sacks allowed), Jack Conklin (381 snaps played, 24 pressures and four sacks allowed), and Cornelius Lucas (221 snaps played, 29 pressures and three sacks allowed) splitting time.

Adding Howard helps solidify part of Cleveland’s offensive line which is facing so much uncertainty. Guards Joel Bittonio, Wyatt Teller, and Teven Jenkins, offensive tackle Cam Robinson, and center Ethan Pocic are all set to be free agents.

The move also makes like a little easier for presumed starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who was sacked 23 times in eight games. As a team, the Browns surrendered 51 total sacks in 2025.
