The Cleveland Browns have a lot of work left to do in order to be playoff contenders in 2025. Bringing Myles Garrett back was a big step in that direction, but there is one clear need remaining for the franchise.

If the Browns want to be a contender again, they have to bring in a legitimate starting quarterback.

So far this offseason, Cleveland has been linked to quite a few different names. Most notably, Kirk Cousins and Joe Flacco have been thrown around as options for weeks.

More recently, the Browns visited with veteran star quarterback Russell Wilson. There seems to be some momentum towards Cleveland finding a way to bring him on board.

Now, a new prediction has been made about who the Browns will end up landing to be their new starting quarterback. It's a move that would help the team's offense take a big leap.

Greg Auman, an NFL reporter for Fox Sports, has predicted that Cleveland will end up landing Wilson to be its next starter.

Wilson would be a big upgrade from what the Browns have had over the last couple of years. Would he be enough to power Cleveland back into contention? That would be something he needs to prove with a strong performance.

During the 2024 NFL season with the AFC North rival Pittsburgh Steelers, Wilson ended up playing in 11 games. He completed 63.7 percent of his pass attempts for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions.

In addition to his passing numbers, the 36-year-old quarterback also picked up 155 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Garrett recently spoke out about Wilson as a potential option for the Browns. He said that the veteran quarterback "definitely has some juice left at the position. He'd be a valuable asset."

He also provided a compelling sales pitch to Wilson. Joining forces with Garrett would help Wilson take some stress off of his body.

"What's my pitch? I won't take him to the ground 3-4 times a year," Garrett said.

Expect to hear a lot more about Cleveland and what it will choose to do at the quarterback position in the near future. For now, Wilson seems to be trending as one of the favorites to end up being the Browns' starter in 2025.
