The Buffalo Bills defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 27–24 in the AFC Wild-Card game on Sunday, marking the Bills’ first road playoff victory in 33 years.

Quarterback Josh Allen carried the offense, completing 28 of 35 passes for 273 yards and one touchdown, while adding 33 rushing yards and the game-winning rushing touchdown with 1:04 remaining.

However, wide receiver Tyrell Shavers, who was enjoying his best NFL season to date, left the game briefly after sustaining a left-knee injury on a special-teams play and was still being evaluated as of Monday.

That evaluation concluded on Tuesday, when the team announced Shavers had suffered a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the Bills’ playoff run.

A 6-foot-4, 211-pound wide receiver, Shavers entered the NFL in 2023 as an undrafted free agent and has spent his entire professional career in Buffalo following college stops at Alabama, Mississippi State, and San Diego State.

After limited production in 2024, Shavers set career highs during the 2025 regular season, totaling 245 receiving yards and one touchdown on 15 receptions across 17 games.

His best performance of the season came in Week 11 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, when he led the team with 90 receiving yards and a touchdown on four catches in a 44–32 Bills victory.

Compounding Buffalo’s receiving concerns, head coach Sean McDermott confirmed that Gabe Davis also suffered a season-ending torn ACL in the Wild-Card win.

Davis and Shavers now join an already depleted wide receiver corps that has seen Joshua Palmer (ankle) and Curtis Samuel (elbow) placed on injured reserve in recent weeks.

Buffalo finished the regular season with a strong 12–5 record and entered the postseason with one of the NFL’s most productive passing attacks.

The Wild-Card win, however, exposed significant depth concerns at wide receiver, leaving the position group thin heading into the Divisional Round matchup against the Denver Broncos.

With Shavers and Davis sidelined, Buffalo will lean on its remaining healthy pass catchers, including Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, tight ends Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox, and potentially Samuel, who is expected to have his practice window opened this week after landing on IR with the elbow injury.

With one of Buffalo’s primary vertical and depth options unavailable in Shavers, expect the Bills’ game plan to emphasize shorter, high-percentage throws and increased reliance on Allen’s mobility.
