The right tackle was carted off the field during the Bengals' Week 3 matchup with the Washington Commanders. Amarius Mims replaced Brown last week and he will likely line up across from Orlando Brown for the rest of the season.

If Mims has a solid performance this year, Brown could end up heading to another team next year. The Bengals selected Mim in Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Brown was slated to play a backup role with Mims at right tackle. However, the rookie sustained a pectoral injury during training camp that led to the opportunity for Brown to take the starting role.

Cincinnati's starters make up the largest tackle trio in NFL history. Standing at 6-foot-8, Brown moved to right tackle after playing left tackle the previous season.

The move to place the 31-year-old on injured reserve was expected since the news broke of his torn patellar tendon.

Brown signed with the Bengals in March. Cincinnati gave the right tackle a one-year, $4.75 million deal.

The ninth-year has played with a number of NFL teams throughout his career. Brown's career began in 2015 with the San Francisco 49ers as a seventh-round pick.

He was then traded to the New England Patriots in 2018. Brown played a versatile role with the Patriots on their journey to their sixth Super Bowl that season.

After his stint with the Patriots, he landed with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2019. He received a four-year, $66 million deal with the Raiders.

That season, Brown had a Pro Bowl showing at right tackle. In 2020, Brown was hospitalized due to COVID-19 which caused him to miss 11 games.

After his stint with Las Vegas, Brown returned to the Patriots in 2021 for his last three seasons. Brown played at both right and left tackle in Foxborough.

Throughout his career, Brown has an extensive history of unavailability. He fell short of 600 snaps in four of his last five seasons. Brown has missed a total of 36 games since his rookie season.

Brown's latest injury is devastating news for a veteran tackle that will spend the season recovering as his contract expires. Cincinnati will likely look to find another backup to stand behind Mims on the depth chart.
