Chicago Bears running back Kyle Monangai missed the first few days of training camp with an undisclosed injury issue, sparking some concern for the team's back-up ball carrier.

But after Monangai returned to the practice field on Monday, Bears head coach Ben Johnson provided an injury update for the 24-year-old RB.

Johnson said Monangai is dealing with a minor soft-tissue injury ahead of his second professional campaign. In his rookie season as a seventh-round draft pick for Chicago, the former Rutgers standout recorded 783 yards and five touchdowns on 169 carries.

Monangai is entering his second season as the back-up running back behind veteran ball carrier D'Andre Swift. In his second campaign with the Bears in 2025, Swift rushed for 1,087 yards and nine touchdowns — both representing career highs for the sixth-year RB.

Fourth-year RB Roschon Johnson and reserve option Brittain Brown follow Swift and Monangai on the Bears' running back depth chart.
