After a disappointing 0-2 start, the Chicago Bears are in desperate need of their first win to stay competitive in the NFC under first-year head coach Ben Johnson. They'll attempt to gain that critical victory at home in Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Much of the team's early struggles are being tied to their starting quarterback, Caleb Williams. Despite his issues, he's shown flashes of great potential and has remained healthy enough to play in the first few games.

Williams has thrown for 417 yards and three touchdowns in two games. His popular target, Rome Odunze, recorded all of those touchdowns. The only other two offensive touchdowns came courtesy of running back D'Andre Swift and Williams himself.

The Bears' defense has been nothing to brag about, especially after giving up 52 points to the Detroit Lions in Week 2. One has to wonder if they'll be able to shut down Dak Prescott and the Cowboys.

Based on the latest injury updates, Chicago will have a key member of the offense on the field with Williams. Unfortunately, the Bears will be without several key members of their defense.

Ahead of Sunday's matchup, Chicago received several key injury updates. NFL insider Adam Schefter shared a positive update that running back D'Andre Swift is set to play against the Cowboys. He was previously questionable due to a quad injury.

Swift has 29 carries for 116 yards with an average of four yards per carry. Kyle Monangai has the second-most carries at back with seven carries for 28 yards.

Schefter also reported on Saturday that the Bears placed cornerback Jaylon Johnson and offensive lineman Kiran Amegadjie on injured reserve. Amegadjie has an elbow injury, while Johnson has dealt with a groin injury since the summer. He also has another unspecified injury.

According to ESPN's Courtney Cronin, Johnson will be out for at least four games due to his injuries. There's also the potential for surgery, as Johnson has been seeking medical opinions this past week.

With those two players out, the Bears signed defensive lineman Tanoh Kpassagnon to their active roster. Kpassagnon has been in the league since 2017. The defensive end played multiple seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints before joining the Chicago Bears this year.

Along with that move, the Bears elevated defensive back Dallis Flowers and linebacker Carl Jones Jr. from their practice squad for Sunday's game versus Dallas.

So far this season, the Chicago defense has given up seven passing touchdowns, which is the worst in the NFL. The Bears are also giving up 382.5 yards of offense to opponents per game, ranking them fifth-worst among all teams.

They enter Sunday's Week 3 matchup as slight underdogs with the Dallas Cowboys favored to win by 1.5 points.
