After a pair of breakout seasons and placing a Super Bowl ring on his finger, safety Coby Bryant is leaving the Seattle Seahawks for an NFC foe on a sizable deal, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Bryant, one of the top safeties available on the open market, will join the Chicago Bears on a three-year, $40 million deal. The soon-to-be 27-year-old defender was a big part of the Seahawks’ suffocating defense in the secondary that led to a Super Bowl LX victory over the New England Patriots last month.
The deal would fill a huge area of need for the Bears, who fell to the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round of the playoffs last season. The Bears are set to part ways with both of their safeties from last season. Jaquan Brisker and Kevin Byard will both become free agents once NFL free agency begins.

A former fourth-round pick from Cincinnati, Bryant hauled in seven interceptions in the last two seasons, flourishing under Mike Macdonald in Seattle’s revamped defense.
During the Super Bowl season, Bryant totaled 66 tackles, four interceptions and a forced fumble.

Seattle wanted to bring Bryant back, but the Bears’ offer was too lucrative to pass up. At just 26 years old, Bryant can become a massive part of Dennis Allen’s defense for years to come. He has decent man coverage skills as a former corner who made the transition to safety in 2024.
The Bears needed to make some strides defensively this offseason after it became an apparent weakness in the playoffs, while star QB Caleb Williams made big plays in big moments. This is a move that will support the quarterback in those big moments on the other end of the field.
