San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk hasn't taken the field for an NFL game since Oct. 20, 2024.

While Aiyuk is technically still under contract with the 49ers, he doesn't count toward the team's 53-man roster after the organization tagged him with a "left squad designation" in July.

Now eight weeks into the 2026 season, it appears Aiyuk is attempting to stage his return to NFL action.

According to a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Aiyuk has hired agent Drew Rosenhaus, who says he's “working on getting him back to work and playing again in the NFL.”

Rosenhaus represents players like Tyreek Hill, Chris Olave, D.J. Moore, Nico Collins and more.

Aiyuk notched back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons with the 49ers in 2022 and 2023. His 2024 campaign came to an end with a devastating ACL and MCL tear in Week 7.

Through 69 game appearances in his career, Aiyuk has logged 294 catches for 4,305 yards and 25 touchdowns.

The 49ers still hold Aiyuk's rights, so the first necessary step for his NFL return is to apply for reinstatement.
