San Francisco 49ers star Deebo Samuel spoke on the De'Vondre Campbell incident on the latest episode of his Bleacher Report podcast, Cleats and Convos.
"It's about brotherhood. It's about how you treat the man next to you. I think it was a little awkward for sure," Samuel said. "Never seen no s--t like that happen before... You got guys that've dealt with real life s--t... They came back, did everything they could possibly do to get back out there. You got guys that dealt with real life s--t, like real life situations, they battled, they came back, did everything they could possibly do to get out there and be apart of this team. "
The 49ers suspended Campbell, effectively ending his season, after he refused to play in the team's divisional matchup with the Los Angeles Rams. As injuries piled up to linebackers, the 49ers turned to Campbell to fill in. However, he declined to enter the game.

Past and present 49ers players have shared their opinions on Campbell's actions. Jerry Rice shared his opinion on the situation.
"It would have been addressed right there on the football field not in the locker room," Rice said on 95.7 The Game. "If you're not ready to go to battle with your team...the time, the preparation, the sweat, the tears, everything you have poured into the season. It came down to that game. We knew the importance of that game. And for him to refuse the way he did, I think it would have got dealt with on the sidelines."
Aside from Samuel, another San Francisco star also condemned Cambpell for refusing to help out the team.
"Look, if you're on the roster you're expected to play," tight end George Kittle said postgame. "I think anyone in this building that got asked to go in I would say 100 percent of everybody would die to get on that football field. And so, people go through or going through random things off the field I can't speak on that. You know whatever his decision was, it wasn't for this organization, it wasn't for this team, and you know that's on him. Not very happy about it, I would have something to say. I wish I would have heard about it on the field. Now is that the reason we lost? Absolutely not. It's hard to win football games when someone doesn't wanna play football, especially when you're suited up."
