Many believe that San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is committing career suicide with the misguided rants he’s posted to social media directly attacking his current employer and a potential future teammate.
Aiyuk has made it clear he only wants to play for the Washington Commanders, but for some reason he went after Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels on Instagram. He’s also informed everyone that he doesn’t plan to stop trolling anytime soon.
“They be like BA and his social media antics,” Aiyuk stated. “Well, [expletive], I got to get paid somehow because the employer holding me captive without pay. At least social media paying. I tell y’all what — if I get a job back in the NFL, man, I’m still going to be on my bull [expletive] on social media.”

It’s hard to tell if Aiyuk is working every one over or if he’s clearly gone off the deep end. But his unhinged behavior has caught the attention of one 49ers legend.

...
Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young recently expressed some real concern for how Aiyuk is handling his business, stating that things have crossed the line from moderately amusing to troubling.
“I worry for him,” Young told the New York Post. “I feel like I want to reach out and help. This is beyond football, it feels like.”
It seems like the damage has already been done between Aiyuk and the 49ers, and any hope of a reconciliation is out the window.
The team voided the guaranteed money in Aiyuk’s contract last season after he failed to follow the team-mandated guidelines for his knee rehabilitation, which seemingly was the final nail in the relationship coffin.
Aiyuk has spent the entire offseason hammering the 49ers on social media, and it doesn’t seem like a resolution is coming anytime soon.
“You want to know why they really mad, though?" Aiyuk said. “They mad because they stupid. They dumb. They mad that they paid me $50 million in eight months and then voided my guarantees for 2027. And I'm about to be on a new team in 2027. They mad at themselves for real. They acting like they mad at me, but they stupid [expletive] mad at themselves.”
