The No. 10 Ole Miss Rebels are set to host No. 2 Georgia Saturday night in Oxford, with the SEC clash carrying massive implications for both teams. Georgia enters at 7-1 overall and 5-1 in SEC play, looking to protect its spot atop the conference. Ole Miss, meanwhile, is in a more desperate situation at 6-2 (4-2 SEC) after dropping games against Florida and Texas earlier in the year. The Rebels have already beaten ranked opponents LSU and Missouri, but another loss could be enough to keep them out of the College Football Playoff.
Ole Miss' star quarterback Trinidad Chambliss isn't intimidated by the challenge of facing the Georgia Bulldogs, though. In fact, he's looking forward to it.
"Big opportunity. You live for games like this as an athlete, as a competitor. I want Georgia at their best. I want to face Kirby Smart. I want to face that tough defense. And I want them at their best," Chambliss said ahead of Saturday's matchup. "It's going to be fun going out there at night in front of our fans. It's going to be rocking. I know the energy is going to be amazing. Just truly blessed to be able to get the opportunity."

Chambliss has evolved into one of the top quarterbacks in college football since transferring to Ole Miss from Division II Ferris State ahead of the 2025 season. He broke out in his first year with the Rebels, throwing for 3,937 yards and 22 touchdowns with just three interceptions, along with 527 rushing yards and eight rushing scores. He helped Ole Miss reach the CFP quarterfinals, and even defeated Georgia in the Sugar Bowl to get there. In that game, Chambliss threw for 362 yards and two touchdowns without an interception, leading the Rebels to a dramatic 39-34 victory.
Chambliss is in the middle of another strong season in Year 2 with the Rebels, throwing for 2,189 yards and 18 touchdowns, along with 199 rushing yards and seven scores, already projected as one of the top QBs in the upcoming 2027 NFL Draft. However, he's also thrown eight interceptions this season, more than twice as many as last year, and now has to face one of the toughest defenses in the country, with the Rebels' season potentially hanging in the balance.

The Bulldogs rank first in the SEC in scoring defense, allowing just 14.9 points per game, along with just 272.6 total yards per game, the second-lowest mark in the conference. Kirby Smart also knows what Chambliss can do after facing him twice last season, with Georgia winning the first matchup 43-35 in Athens before falling in the postseason.
Ole Miss can still technically make the CFP even if they lose to Georgia, but with how competitive the SEC is this season, their resume might not be as strong as other teams also in the mix. They would need to win their final three regular-season games at Oklahoma, at home against Wofford, and against Mississippi State. None of those teams are ranked, though, so they would need to rely on their previous wins over LSU and Missouri if they can't edge out a win against Georgia Saturday night.
