Two seasons ago, coming out of high school as one of the most prominent recruits in the country, star quarterback Dylan Raiola made the bold decision to commit to head coach Matt Rhule and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

While he played a key role in the program’s growth and development during his freshman and sophomore seasons in Lincoln, Raiola chose to enter the NCAA transfer portal this offseason. With the window set to close later this week, he has now decided on his next destination.

The soon-to-be junior quarterback, who has two years of eligibility remaining, is headed to Eugene to join the Oregon Ducks under head coach Dan Lanning. Raiola is expected to step into a major role, potentially replacing Dante Moore, who could be NFL-bound.

This season, Raiola started nine games before suffering a season-ending injury. He completed 72.4% of his passes for 2,000 yards, 18 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He suffered a broken fibula but is expected to be fully healthy by the start of next season.

Following his decision to transfer, Rhule shared a strong message about his former star quarterback.

“Dylan made his decision, and Dylan did a great job for us,” Matt Rhule said following Raiola’s transfer. “He was really the first five-star to come here and signal to everybody, ‘Hey, it’s cool to come to Nebraska.’ And I think you’ve seen some players follow suit.”

“Dylan did a great job for us, got us to back-to-back bowl games. Being bowl eligible back-to-back years hasn’t happened since 2013 and 2014. Really grateful to Dylan for all that he did, and if he needs a fresh start, I’m gonna pray that he finds the right place and that he finds so much success.”

Oregon has made back-to-back College Football Playoff appearances but was eliminated both times in blowout losses. In 2024, the Ducks fell to Ohio State in the quarterfinals, and on Friday, they lost 56–22 to Indiana in the semifinals.

Still, under Dan Lanning, Oregon has become one of the top programs in the country, and Raiola fits seamlessly into what the Ducks are building in Eugene from a talent standpoint.
