Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian sent his support for legend Jordan Shipley, who went through a tragic accident on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at his ranch.

According to a statement from his family, he is in critical but stable condition at Austin Hospital following a fire that broke out, leading to him suffering severe burns before escaping.

On X, Sarkisian quoted a post detailing the family's public message, displaying the praying hands emoji over the statement.

"The machine he was operating on his ranch caught fire and although he managed to get out, it was not before sustaining severe burns on his body," the family's statement read.

"He was able to get to one of his workers on the ranch who drove him to a local hospital."

Additionally, the head coach reposted the following post on X.

"Longhorn fans, please lift up Jordan Shipley and his family. Jordan is currently in surgery after being involved in an accident on his ranch earlier today," Bobby Burton of On Texas wrote.

"He received third-degree burns on over 20-percent of his body. Jordan's dad, Bob, asks for everyone's prayers. He is currently in stable but serious condition.

On Wednesday, his wife, Sunny Helms Shipley, provided an update on his condition in a Facebook post.

"The main concern at this moment are his hands, keeping infection away and his kidney function. We will take this day to day and I will try to update when I can because I know that there are so many that love Jordan," she wrote.

"I know he’s got a long hard recovery ahead, but if anyone can do it.. he can. Please keep praying. We so covet them. We love you all.

Jordan Shipley is only 40 years old, and he is best known for his time with the Longhorns, where he starred as a top option for former Texas quarterback Colt McCoy.

He caught 116 passes during the 2009 season, totaling 1,485 yards and 13 touchdowns during a season when Texas made it to the National Championship game.

Shipley was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the third round of the NFL Draft after his storied career, spending three seasons in the professional ranks and making stops with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
