The college football season is still months away, but chatter is already heating up about the highly anticipated Sept. 19 matchup between the LSU Tigers and Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford, Mississippi.

This game will mark Lane Kiffin’s first return to Oxford since leaving Ole Miss ahead of their College Football Playoff bid to take the LSU job. This week, ticket prices for the game surfaced on social media, prompting a brief reaction from Kiffin on Wednesday.

As of now, one of the lowest tickets on SeatGeek start around $420, with some sections climbing well over $1,000. Kiffin responded with LSU's signature hashtag, #JustDifferent."

Fans had plenty to say about the ticket prices and Kiffin’s comment:

"Will this even be a game? Money train Lane going to win this game easily," one fan wrote.

Another added, "I think you being on LSU's sideline is what makes this #JustDifferent from the previous matchups."

"LSU + Kiffin = Value," another fan chimed in.

"#Justoverpriced," one fan joked.

"You deserve everything that happens next. Remember that," another added.

Kiffin was at the forefront of Ole Miss’ rise to SEC contender status, but his departure left a bitter taste with much of the fanbase, frustrated by both how and when he left — right after the regular season finale, arguably the biggest moment in the program’s history.

That tension only adds fuel to the drama surrounding this matchup, which will feature many of Kiffin’s former players, including star quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who chose to remain at Ole Miss after being granted an extra year of eligibility.
