The LSU Tigers had secured the commitment of quarterback Sam Leavitt on Monday morning, seemingly locking down the quarterback position. However, the Tennessee Volunteers are launching one final offer to change Leavitt's mind.
According to On3's Pete Nakos, Tennessee is still working to get Leavitt despite news of his commitment to the Tigers, and Leavitt has not signed a deal with LSU yet, meaning he can still change his mind.

Leavitt and Tennessee have been in contact throughout Monday, per Nakos, and negotiations are ongoing.
The former Arizona State quarterback is the top remaining option on the market. He was arguably the top player on the portal in terms of positional value, next to Texas Tech signee Brendan Sorsby.

LSU went after Sorsby right out of the gate, though Kiffin could not convince him to sign. Also, Kiffin's former quarterback, Trindad Chambliss, signed a new deal with Ole Miss, and his eligibility remains in question after his waiver request for another year of college ball was rejected.
Then, news broke that Demond Williams Jr. was entering the transfer portal, and the Tigers were immediately linked to him, though he ultimately changed his mind amid his contract with Washington, which kept him at the school.

LSU has been left with Leavitt as its sole remaining option for a top-of-the-line starter in the portal. They have received a commitment from Landen Clark, an FCS transfer who projects as a promising quarterback, though he will not be ready for the SEC right out of the gate.
The Tigers have also met with Husan Longstreet, the five-star USC transfer who redshirted last year as a freshman and is projected to be another promising arm Kiffin could develop.
However, all eyes are on Leavitt as Kiffin needs to get off to a good start in Baton Rouge, and the ASU transfer is his best chance.
