Lane Kiffin left Ole Miss and Oxford for one reason only when he touched down in Baton Rouge: to rebuild the LSU Tigers dynasty and win a national championship.
As his former team prepares to play in the College Football Playoff at home this weekend against the Tulane Green Wave, Kiffin is hard at work finding a quarterback and the core he hopes will turn the Tigers into a title-contending squad by next fall.
On Wednesday, though, Kiffin and his staff were hit by a surprising move that will see one of those cornerstone pieces leave LSU for another program in the upcoming transfer portal that begins in early January.

Carius Curne, who was a five-star recruit per Rivals, was supposed to be a part of the future of the Tigers in the trenches. The No. 1-ranked player out of the state of Arkansas for the 2025 class, Curne, already started seven games for the Tigers this season at both the right and left tackle positions.
Curne, a hulking 6-foot-5, 320 lbs., was slated to be an important factor for LSU in their revamped offense heading into 2026. But according to latest reports, he is planning to enter the transfer portal.
LSU is already linked to several quarterbacks in the upcoming transfer portal, including Arizona State’s Sam Leavitt, Florida’s DJ Lagway, and North Texas’ Drew Mestemaker.
