On Wednesday, the LSU Tigers fan base erupted upon learning that the Ole Miss Rebels' sack leader. Princewill Umanmielen was coming to Baton Rouge for the 2026 season.
Going on almost two months of daily fighting between the Tigers and Rebels fanbases, it was another shot across the bow for LSU as we head towards a long wait until the two teams play on Sept. 19 in Oxford.
Pete Golding and Lane Kiffin have been poaching players from each other's programs through the transfer portal, and securing Umanmielen might have been the most significant piece off the chessboard yet for the LSU coach.

More news: LSU’s Lane Kiffin Accused of Using Transfer Portal to ‘Destroy’ Ole Miss
But while LSU fans at large celebrated, some began making fun of the Ole Miss Rebels fanbase, and one person stepped up to try to stop it.
Who else but Lane Kiffin, the man who started all the drama in the first place.
There has been a change to Kiffin's online presence since the portal closed a few days ago, with him asking for a peace treaty between the two programs on Tuesday before signaling out one of his own the next day.
Kiffin has been outwardly supportive of his Ole Miss players and the program, though less complimentary of Pete Golding, the man who took over his job during the College Football Playoff.
The change of tune might come from the fact that Kiffin has accomplished what he set out to do a little over two weeks ago: having the best transfer window of any program in the nation.
In fact, following the Umanmielen signing, the 2026 LSU Tigers have the best transfer class in history, per 247Sports. They are the only school to have more than one five-star join them going into the new campaign, alongside 11 four-stars.
Golding, holding his own even through the last-second departures, secured the second-best class with eight four-stars and 18 three-star players.
Rounding out the top three currently is the Texas Longhorns, who didn't sign as many players as their SEC rivals but did pick up high-end talent like Cam Coleman and Hollywood Smothers to surround quarterback Arch Manning.
