A few days before the Alabama Crimson Tide looks to return to the top of the college football world, they received positive news about an addition to their program.

While Kalen DeBoer is in the middle of rumors about his future with the Crimson Tide amidst Michigan whispers and also trying to win over a fanbase that continually compares him to Nick Saban, he picked up a promising tight end from the rival of the team he’s playing Friday night.

Oklahoma State Josh Ford is slated to sign with Alabama when the transfer portal opens officially in a few weeks, trading in his cowboy hat for a “Roll Tide” tee. In a limited time for the woeful Cowboys this season, he scored a touchdown on three interceptions.

At 6-foot-6, 265 lbs., he will bring some extra oomph to an Alabama side that is trying to rebuild the depth they were always known for when they ruled the college football world under Saban.

Ford won’t have to travel too far to watch his new team play, as the Crimson Tide will leave Tuscaloosa for Norma as the Oklahoma Sooners are waiting for the opening round matchup in the College Football Playoff. The winner will then go west to Pasadena on New Year’s Day to play the top-ranked Indiana Hoosiers in the historic Rose Bowl.
