Jon Gruden has been a popular name in college football coaching rumors over the last couple of weeks. He has made it very clear that he would like to return to the sidelines at some point in the near future.

With that being said, the question has been, which program could offer him that opportunity?

A new potential landing spot has opened up. Following the UCLA Bruins' decision to fire head coach DeShaun Foster on Sunday, Gruden has become a very popular name to watch to fill that coaching vacancy.

Whether or not UCLA is interested in Gruden or not remains to be seen, but the fans want to see the program consider him.

Plenty of calls for Gruden to become the Bruins' next head coach have been made on social media. Let's take a look at a few of them.

"Just saw UCLA fired DeShaun Foster. They should consider calling Jon Gruden. He would inject some fire into the program," one fan wrote.

Another chimed in, "Not that I would have wished for this previously but are there phone calls going to Jon Gruden now for UCLA football?"

"UCLA should throw the bag at Jon Gruden," a third comment read.

A fourth comment said, "Jon Gruden probably already setting up his new office at ucla."

"They stomped UCLA out in the Rose Bowl. Jon Gruden to UCLA next year?" a fifth fan commented.

During his tenure as an NFL head coach, Gruden produced mixed results. He compiled a 117-112 overall record, while also leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl win back in the 2002 season.

UCLA is a historic college football program and has found success under Chip Kelly. Since Foster took over, the same cannot be said.

Gruden may not even end up being a consideration for the Bruins. However, it's clear that the fans would love to see him get a chance to lead UCLA forward and get the program back to being a College Football Playoff contender.

Only time will tell, but his name is one worth keeping an eye on as the Bruins begin their search for a new head football coach.
